— NPR's Steven Rosenfeld reports that campaign reform groups in Arizona, Massachusetts, Missouri and New York City are pushing ballot initiatives for public financing of political campaigns. Advocates say using taxpayer funds is the only way to limit the influence of wealthy special interests. But yesterday, organizers in Missouri concluded that their effort to get a public funding initiative on this year's ballot had failed.
