Lockheed/Northrup Merger Opposed

—NPR's Madeleine Brand reports that both the Justice and Defense Departments oppose the proposed merger of aerospace manufacturers Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman. Attorney General Janet Reno and Defense Secretary William Cohen say the merger between the first and third largest defense contractors could raise government costs and jeopardize the quality of military hardware.
