Timber Sales Losses

—NPR's John Nielsen reports that the General Accounting Office issued a report critical of the Forest Service's bookeeping. For the first time ever, the service reported a LOSS in its timber sale operations last year. Some Congress members want to punish the agency, by rejecting its request for a 43-million dollar budget increase.
