House Members Eat at Food-Stamp Level for a Week
Several members of Congress have pledged to eat for a week on just $21 — the same amount an average food stamp recipient receives.
Four House members who took up the challenge are hoping to draw attention to what they say is a need to boost the budget for the federal food stamp program.
As Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) tells NPR's Andrea Seabrook, she is co-sponsoring a bill to add to the food-stamp budget.
