Interstate 40 Debate

— Leda Hartman of member station WUNC reports that residents of rural Madison County, North Carolina, are divided over road construction. An expressway will soon link the remote area to the interestate highway system. Residents who want to preserve the pristine nature of the Appalachians conflict with those who want the economic opportunity that high speed transportation brings.
