Kaczyinski Changes Insanity Defense

— NPR's John McChesney reports defense attorneys will not present an insanity defense for accused "Unabomber" Ted Kaczynski. Kaczynski had disagreements recently over plans for his defense, threatening to fire his lawyers if they question his mental stability. Using an insanity plea could be the only chance to save Kaczynski from the death penalty. The government turned down a plea bargain by the defense, which offered a guilty plea and life in prison in return for no death penalty.
