-- In the fourth of our weeklong series on bilingual education, NPR's Mandalit Delbarco reports that debate over the practice has created a variety of programs in California. Some schools start students learning mostly in Spanish and slowly shift them to English over a number of years. Others place students in English-immersion classes early on, where Spanish-speaking is discouraged.
