Church Burning

— Melanie Peeples of Alabama Public Radio reports from Mobile on the federal trial of three white defendants accused of burning a predominantly black Baptist Church. They are charged under a relatively new law, which makes it a federal crime to damage or destroy, or attempt to damage or destroy a church because of the race of its congregation. The three face at least ten years in prison if convicted.
