The Day On Wall Street

— NPR's Melissa Block reports on the impressive recovery at the New York Stock Exchange yesterday, where a record 1.2 billion shares were traded, sending the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 337 points at closing. Yesterday's gains offset much of the Dow's 554 point drop on Monday. Analysts attribute the dramatic comeback to overall confidence in the US economy, despite nervous trading in Asian and European stock markets.
