Bottling Battle: Perrier In Florida

— In part two of her series, NPR's Cheryl Devall reports on the fight for water resources on Florida's Gulf coast. This battle centers on Zephyrhills, a small town near Tampa Bay. Residents are challenging Perrier's plans to increase the amount of water it takes from a local spring. The bottler wants the right to take up to two-point-nine million gallons a day...a ten-fold increase over what it currently extracts. Perrier calls its request reasonable...critics aren't so sure. The spring also feeds wildlife areas and a river that supplies Tampa Bay with water.
