Il Prisoner Lawsuit

— NPR's Cheryl Corley reports on a former Illinois prisoner who is suing the state because he contracted AIDS after being repeatedly raped during his almost five years in jail. Michael Blucker [BLUE-ker] is on parole now, his lawsuit targets the Illinois Department of Corrections and 15 of its officers for allegedly allowing the abuse to continue. Prison officials do not dispute that Blucker [BLUE-ker] contracted AIDS while in prison, but they say he never asked to be placed in protective custody. Blucker [BLUE-ker] is expected to testify in the federal trial today.
