Canadian Snow Geese

— NPR's David Baron reports that environmentalists are concerned about the rising population of Canadian snow geese. Recent conservation efforts have worked so well that the numerous geese are stripping their environments of needed vegetation and ruining the land. Scientists estimate it will take at least 30 to 50 years for the habitat to recover. In the meantime, they say the population needs to be reduced by half...for the good of the land and for the geese themselves. Some have suggested a controversial increase in hunting, but opponents criticize that approach as inhumane.
