Mexican Death Sentence

— NPR's Adam Hochberg reports the Mexican government is appealing to Virginia Governor George Allen to commute the death sentence against Mario Benjamin Murphy. He is a Mexican national who is due to be executed Wednesday night for a 1991 murder. The convicted killer, Mario Benjamin Murphy's attorneys contend his rights were violated under the Vienna Convention which says foreigners accused of a crime must be informed of their right to contact their country's embassy.
