Republicans And Family Support

—NPR's Vicki Que reports that Congressional Republicans are defending themselves against criticism over the removal of thousands of families from Supplemental Security Income (SSI), the federal program that helps parents care for their disabled children. The lawmakers maintain that truly needy families will continue to receive SSI benefits and that those being cut from the program don't really qualify to be in it.
