Digital Tv's Coming

— NPR's Phillip Davis reports that legislators yesterday finalized a proposal to modify telecommunications law's provisions on digital television. Next year broadcasters will begin simulcasting digital and analog signals, using a second frequency given them for free by the federal government. Yesterday's deal will allow them to keep the free spectrum longer than planned, in case consumers have not aquired digital TV equipment.
