Chief Olympic Organizer Resigns

— NPR's Howard Berkes reports that the chief of the organizing committee for the Salt Lake City Olympics has resigned amid charges of spousal abuse. Tom Welch, a former Mormon bishop, had touted the Salt Lake City Olympics as a forum for family values. A court hearing on the abuse charges is set for next month.
