A woman in Texas called 911 this week to report that her shrimp fried rice did not include enough shrimp. In a recording, the woman tells the emergency dispatcher,"I always get the shrimp fried rice, so I said I'm going to get extra meat this time. But he didn't even put extra shrimp in there." The 911 dispatcher says she'll send a police officer as soon as she can.

ARI SHAPIRO, host:

Good morning. I'm Ari Shapiro. Today's lesson: What is an emergency? A woman in Texas called 911 from a restaurant. The reason? Her shrimp fried rice did not contain enough shrimp. In a recording, the woman tells the emergency dispatcher, I always get the shrimp fried rice, so I said I'm going to get extra meat this time. But he didn't even put extra shrimp in there. The 911 dispatcher says she'll send a police officer as soon as she can.

It's MORNING EDITION.
