China Mfn Debate

NPR's Ted Clark reports that the annual debate over China's Most Favored Nation trade privileges are more controversial and emotional this year. President Clinton and most American businesses want to renew China's MFN status, in hopes of expanding trade with the world's most populous nation. But some in Congress believe that the status should be withheld to punish China for continued human rights violations and religious intolerance.
