'Civil Rights Act Of 1997'

— N-P-R's Barbara Bradley reports that Republicans introduced legislation yesterday that would prohibit the government from giving preference to minorities or women in federal contracting or hiring. They argue that their bill, called `The Civil Rights Act of 1997,' is needed to restore equal treatment under the law. A similar bill never made it to the floor in 1995.
