Hong Kong: An Ex-British Colony

— Host Bob Edwards talks with Professor William Kirby about the history of Britain's rule over Hong Kong. The colony was assembled in several steps during the nineteenth century. The biggest piece was taken at the end of the nineteenth century under a 99-year lease. Throughout this century, the British held onto their territory in China after all other Western nations gave up their claims. Today the lease runs out, and the whole colony reverts to Chinese control.
