ARI SHAPIRO, host:

Good morning. I'm Ari Shapiro.

People have always been entertained by tragedy, so Fox TV is producing a new reality program called "Someone's Gotta Go." They take a small company that has to lay someone off and let the employees decide who gets the ax - not exactly Hamlet. People are criticizing the network for poor taste. But a Fox executive says it's about employee empowerment. Plus, he added, it's no worse than the news.

It's MORNING EDITION.
