in which the publication of medical research sponsored by a drug company was delayed in the commercial interest of the manufacturer. Potentially money-saving findings about thyroid drugs were suppressed for seven years. This incident has brought to light a common problem: the interests of drug companies which control research may not be the same as those of the public or of science.
