McVeigh Trial: Fortier On The Stand

—- NPR's Mark Roberts reports on yesterday's testimony by prosecution witness Michael Fortier, a onetime friend of Oklahoma City bombing defendant Timothy McVeigh. Fortier, testifying under a plea bargain may receive leniency on lesser charges in exchange for his testimony. He told jurors that McVeigh had explained his plans to blow up the federal building, but that he considered McVeigh incapable of committing the crime. Once Fortier heard about the bombing, he said, he knew McVeigh had been the perpetrator. Today, the defense again will cross-examine Fortier and try to discredit him.
