We Shall Overcome, Continued

The story of the song "We Shall Overcome" continues, with an excerpt from Lyndon Johnson's Voting Rights speech in 1965, where he used the phrase "we shall overcome." We'll also hear the memories of Congressman John Lewis; an excerpt from a new arrancement of "We Shall Overcome," which premiered last night in Atlanta as a work commissioned by NPR and the Atlanta Symphony; and an example of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s use of the song as a sermon theme. Today is Dr. King's birthday; he would have been 70 years old today. (8:00) ((ST
