NPR's John Ydstie reports that Brazil's economic crisis eased today as markets responded favorably to the government's decision to stop spending precious reserves defending its embattled currency. Brazil's main stock index gained more than 250today, but is still in negative territory for the year. Stock markets in the U.S. turned around as well with the Dow climbing more than two hundred points in late afternoon trading.
