Lieberman's Plan
All Things Considered host Robert Siegel talks with Senator Joseph Lieberman, a Democratic Senator from Connecticut. He is the co-author, along with Republican Senator Slade Gordon of Washington, of a bipartisan proposal that would ensure a short Senate trial for President Clinton. Some Republicans want a trial in which prosecutors would call witnesses, and some Democrats don't want a trial at all. This proposal is, in Lieberman's eyes, a good compromise between these extreme positions.
