Set List

  • "The Graves"
  • "Right Now"
  • "Can't Do Life"
  • "Ready to Run"
  • "Mellow Down Easy" (Julie Adams & Mountain Stage Band)

Born and raised in the mining and farming country of Southwest Virginia, singer-songwriter Reagan Boggs has been steeped in the sounds of that region since she was a child. In her second appearance on Mountain Stage, Boggs performs songs from her 2007 release Right Now, as well as a new song, "Can't Do Life."

Boggs' solo rendition of "The Graves" tells the haunting true-to-life story of her grandmother's unwillingness to sell property containing the family's cemetery. The refrain of "Can't Do Life" showcases Boggs' versatile voice and vast vocal range, while emphasizing her ability to capture complex emotions in song.

At the end of this set, the Mountain Stage band accompanies vocalist Julie Adams for a rendition of Willie Dixon's "Mellow Down Easy."

This feature originally ran Apr. 23, 2009.
