All Things Considered host Linda Wertheimer talks with NPR's John Ydstie about the sharp rise in the U.S. trade deficit. The Commerce Department announced today that the deficit rose 10.3 percent in May to a record-high 15.75 billion dollars. John describes how the economic crisis in Asia was a double whammy for the U.S. — leading to a rise in imports and a drop in exports.
