Alan Cheuse has a review of "Secrets" by Nuruddin Farah (noo-ROO-din fah-RAH). It's set in Somalia, as the civil war in that country is getting underway. Cheuse says the characters are well-drawn and the book overall is a witty comedy of manners. (STATIONS: "Secrets" is published by Arcade.)
