The Senate failed to break a Republican filibuster against campaign finance legislation today, killing the measure for the near future. 51 members... a majority of the Senate... voted for the reform bill, but that's 9 votes short of the 60 needed to shut off the filibuster. Majority Leader Trent Lott has removed the bill from the floor, and moved on to other legislation. NPR's Peter Kenyon reports.
