December 11, 1997

Robert talks with tenor Placido Domingo. He just finished singing the lead role of Canio (CAH-nee-oh) in "I Pagliacci" (EE pahl-YAH-chee) for the Washington Opera in Washington DC, where he is also the company's Artistic Director. Domingo says he's more nervous in his role as Artistic Director, being responsible for so many aspects of an opera's production, than he is singing on stage, where he feels more in control. Domingo also says he hopes to have 5 or 6 more years of singing professionally before focusing solely on conducting and his role as Artistic Director. And Domingo also puts to rest a controversy regarding his true age. (8:00) ((ST
