Senator Fred Thompson, head of the Senate committee investigating campaign finance abuses, said today he will send a letter to Attorney General Janet Reno questioning the legality of the Democrats' massive television campaign during the 1996 Presidential elections. On two videos recently obtained by the committee, President Clinton acknowledged that the ads helped boost his standing in the polls, though the ads were paid for by funds that were not supposed to be used to promote a candidate.
