Liane talks with Mamoun Fandy (MAH-moon FAHN-dee), a professor of politics at the Center for Contemporary Arab Studies at Georgetown University. They discuss how the Egyptian government has been working to undermine popular support for Islamic militant groups, and negotiated terms with some of these groups at the expense of others. Fandy says that has caused an upswing in factionalism and infighting amongst the various militant organizations.
