Irs Hearings

US officials promised today to improve the Internal Revenue Service's performance and its fairness to taxpayers. The acting IRS commissioner said he will forbid the use of quotas to measure the performance of tax collectors and will establish new procedures to resolve taxpayer complaints. The promises came at a hearing of the Senate Finance Committee, which is in the third day of hearings on abuses by the IRS. NPR's Jon Greenberg reports.
