The North Atlantic Treaty Organization was formed to confront the old Soviet Union. For the first time, NATO and Russian foreign ministers held a successful meeting today in New York... as a prelude to Russia's greater involvement in Nato's post cold war expansion into Eastern Europe. NPR's Mike Shuster reports.
