West Side Story Anniversary

Audio for this story from All Things Considered is not available.

Robert and Liane recall that the musical "West Side Story" opened on Broadway 40 years ago tonight. We also learn that the musical, which borrowed its story from Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet", was only the latest of a series of renderings of the same tale — traceable all the way back to 5th-century Greece. We hear a composite version by various artists of the song "Tonight" from the Leonard Bernstein-Stephen Sondheim musical score. ((STEREO))
