Mathew Brady Portraits

Photographer Mathew Brady's portraits - NOT his celebrated Civil War pictures - are the subject of a new exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. The exhibition presents Brady as the father of celebrity photographers...in fact, he went to war NOT to capture the agony of battle but to photograph the star generals on the "set." NPR's Dean Olsher reports. (STATIONS: The exhibition opens today (9/26) and continues through 1/4/98.)
