Survey: Full-Time Working Mothers Are Tired
RENEE MONTAGNE, host:
Many working mothers struggle to achieve that elusive work/life balance. For many women that's been harder these days. The online job site Careerbuilder.com surveyed nearly 500 full-time working mothers with children under 18. One-third said they feel burnt out. Fourteen percent say they've taken on second jobs in the last year to help make ends meet. Many are working longer hours, especially if their company has had layoffs.
Careerbuilder.com has one tip for getting back a bit of balance: Leave menial tasks on the back burner when you get home from work. So with a nod to Mothers Day this weekend, our last word in business is order pizza and leave the laundry for tomorrow.
