Financial Fortunes

NPR'S Jim Zarroli reports the economy expanded at its fastest pace in a decade in the first quarter. The Commerce Department said the nation's gross domestic product grew at 5.6% annual rate during January, February and March. The stock and bond markets reacted calmly, looking past the surprisingly strong GDP report to focus on other, more comforting data.
