Attorney General Janet Reno weathered criticism from the Senate Judiciary committee today about her decision not to recommend an independent counsel to investigate fundraising irregularities. Testifying before the committee, Reno refused to back down. She said she has not found any facts that would fit the independent counsel law. Committee chairman Orrin Hatch told her the decision hurts public confidence in the Justice Department. NPR's Chitra Ragavan reports.
