NPR's Jennifer Ludden reports from Kinshasa on Laurent Kabila, the enigmatic new ruler of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Kabila remains a mystery to many; after his involvement in leftist rebellions against Mobutu in the 1960's, few had seen or heard from him until the uprising which began last Fall and ended with the conquest of Kinshasa this past weekend. Kabila comes from a Marxist tradition of guerrilla warfare, but he is speaking the language of democracy and free markets.
