General Motors announced Friday that it will slash dealerships by nearly 20 percent, closing some 1,100 sales outlets. The move comes a day after Chrysler announced its own plans to close hundreds of dealerships.

Host Rebecca Roberts talks with NPR's Frank Langfitt about why so many dealerships received pink slips.

And then, New Hampshire Public Radio's David Darman visits a New England town that once had five dealerships. After this week, Peterborough, N.H., has none.
