For years, Angus and Julia Stone played open mic nights as solo artists. Angus channeled '70s rock and Julia took to folk. But soon the brother and sister found their stellar sum outweighed the individual parts.

Their debut album, A Book Like This, went gold in their native Australia last year, and now the Stones are gaining a U.S. footing. In this interview, the pair discusses how they gained exposure to a broad range of music while listening to their father's cover band as children, and how they each have very separate songwriting methods.
