Sturgeon Fishing

Wendy Nelson of The Great Lakes Radio Consortium reports on the waning sport of spearing sturgeon. Once sturgeon were plentiful around the Great Lakes region, and sturgeon spearing was a favorite wintertime activity. But today in Michigan, the once widespread sport is now allowed on only a few small lakes. Concern about sturgeon populations dwindling even further is prompting state environmental officials to consider restricting the sport altogether.
