Black Farmers Lawsuit

NPR's Kathy Lohr reports on the proposed settlement between the Agriculture Department and black farmers who filed a class action suit accusing the USDA of discrimination since the 1980's. Under terms of the settlement, black farmers who were unfairly denied USDA loans would receive a tax-free cash settlement and would have the debts they owe the Agriculture Department forgiven. Initial enthusiasm for the agreement has faded, as a number of the people who brought the suit say they deserve more.
