President Visits Central America

NPR's Tom Gjelten previews President Clinton's four-day trip to Central America. The President will visit Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala. The two main topics of discussion will be earthquake relief and illegal immigration. Clinton had hoped to announce a billion-dollar relief package for Central America but that proposal was held up last week in Congress.
