June 1, 2009 - Seven times named Female Vocalist of the Year at the International Bluegrass Music Awards, Rhonda Vincent has turned her group The Rage into a bluegrass institution. Since releasing her first record in 1990, Vincent has evolved into a stalwart on the summer bluegrass festival circuit. Starting in 2006, she chartered her first Rhonda Vincent Bluegrass Cruise.
Vincent's life story is summed up in the opening number, "All American Bluegrass Girl," and her band follows with "Precious Jewel," a song she grew up singing with her family.
As evidenced in this Mountain Stage set from 2006, a Rhonda Vincent & The Rage show is always a polished affair, with plenty of instrumental fireworks ("Road Rage," "Sun Drop In"), tight vocal harmonies ("So Happy I'll Be") and some traditional gospel ("Don't Act"). Since this concert recording Vincent has released two albums, including Good Thing Going and the most recent release, Destination Life, with all-new members of The Rage.
