BP Amoco

Jackie Northam of member station WBEZ reports on the medical investigation that BP Amoco is conducting at its chemical research center near Chicago. Several long term employees at the facility have died from brain cancer since 1989, the most recent this month. BP Amoco has closed an entire floor in Building 503, one of 500 buildings at the complex. The company has brought in a team of experts, who are trying to determine the cause of the malignant brain tumors, known as glioma (glee-OH-muh).
