Pot vs Bananas

NPR's Phillip Davis reports that residents of the Caribbean island of St. Vincent and the Grenadines accuse the United States of attacking their two main cash crops: bananas and marijuana. Vincentians say the US trade dispute with Europe over market access to Caribbean bananas could devastate that industry, and is driving banana growers to marijuana farming. Many criticize the US for simultaneously leading efforts to eradicate marijuana plantations, which generate significant revenue for the island.
