June 3, 2009 - From Hickory Grove, La., Alecia Nugent started singing at a very early age, performing with her father Jimmy Nugent and his Southland Bluegrass Band. By the time she reached her teens, she was leading the group. Nugent wears her influences on her sleeve — from the Stanley Brothers to Dolly Parton — and melds them to her own modern style of driven acoustic music.

Her 2006 album A Little Girl ... A Big Four-Lane, had just been released when this set was recorded. The disc solidified her presence and earned her praise within the bluegrass and country community. Her most recent release is called Hillbilly Goddess, a phrase taken from a review of her high-energy show.

Nugent's band on this night featured Andy Hall on dobro, Steve Sutton on banjo, Darrin Nicholson on mandolin, Jennifer Strickland on bass and Andy Falco on acoustic guitar. "My First Mistake," written by Larry Cordle, was included on her 2004 self-titled debut.
